He was first introduced when Gu Li Sheng tasked him with protecting Jun Wu Xie when she entered Zephyr Academy. Quickly becoming friends with her she introduced him to Fan Zhuo. When Zephyr Academy entered a Forest to hunt spirit beasts Ning Xin and Yin Yan tried to assassinate him but failed.
After Long Qi killed Ning Xin under the Orders of Jun Wu Xie Ning Rui approached Gu Ying to take over Zephyr Academy. He was in the office of Fan Qi when Gu Ying killed his Father, he immediately raged and tried to attack Gu Ying but was beaten by him to the point of losing his mind. When Jun Wu Xie and Co. came back to Zephyr Academy and took care of Gu Ying and Ning Rui his mind was healed by Jun Wu Xie, after a period of healing he took over the position of Headmaster of Zephyr Academy.
